The Belgian Measurement Confederation
is pleased to announce the following event:
2013 BEMEKO workshop on measurement :
Challenges and Opportunities
University of Liège (campus Sart-Tilman)
Thursday, November 7, 2013.
In the past few years, the importance of measurement in all areas of science and engineering has increased considerably. The recent progress in data acquisition systems, sensors, electrical measurement devices and processing time brings new challenges and has generated unprecedented possibilities in terms of measurement speed, real-time acquisition, miniaturization or measurement sensitivity. These performances can be exploited in all areas of engineering, in the industry as well as in the academic world. The purpose of the 1-day BEMEKO workshop is to bring together people from companies and research laboratories that are active in measurement with scientific contributions ranging from practical data acquisition to applications.
The BEMEKO workshop aims at covering important aspects of measurement techniques, data acquisition and instrumentation. Applications may include but are not limited to the miniaturization of sensors, the renewable energy sector, the characterization of materials, measurements for power quality and security, electronics and robotics.
The participation of PhD students is much encouraged, since the workshop may represent an opportunity for first poster or talk presentation.
The workshop will consist of oral plenary lectures (20 minutes each) and a poster session. The following contributions are welcome:
- Scientific contributions (oral or poster) from the academic world,
- Scientific contributions (oral) from industrial partners that are specialists in measurement & data acquisition ; the contributions are expected to focus on a particular measurement challenge and solutions that can be achieved with their latest products.
The workshop will be held at the University of Liège (campus Sart-Tilman), on Thursday November 7, 2013. The language will be English.
During the whole day, a room will be dedicated to industrial partners for exhibition of measurement devices.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Liège.
On behalf of the organizing committee,
Prof. Philippe Vanderbemden
President of BEMEKO
